White Lies
While WHITE LIES bassist, Charles Cave sat tuning his bass guitar in a dressing room, waiting to open for Coldplay, he took the time to answer LINDI BROWNELL’s questions on social media, name changes, homesickness, and what we can expect next from the award winning, swoon-inducing West London foursome.
Mpho
London-based singer, songwriter and voice for hire, MPHO (or Mpho Skeef as she’s known in some circles) is rapidly making a name for herself as a solo artist the other pop stars best be watching. Her debut is the model of a hyped release, and we managed to secure a chat with her prior to its launch. Look up one of her videos and you’ll understand why her name is on so many tongues.
Shortstraw
This time last year no one other than their moms, girlfriends and long-suffering housemates had heard of the self-ordained founders of ‘thrash folk’, SHORTSTRAW. Now they’ve played Oppi, self-released an EP and are gradually building a fiercely loyal fan base that extends well beyond the confines of those long-sufferers. CRAIG WILSON pinned them down for an Irish coffee and a chat about bum-like chins, strange weddings and expression-impaired movie stars.
FAST FORWARD TO THE FUTURE
We can barely keep up with what's going on in Gossip Girl, let alone with what's happening in the big, wide world of technology. That's why we sat down with some very smart people, to ask them all the really important tech-related questions. Like, when can we go to space? And how hard is teleporting really? All the future tech-gizmo basics you need to know are right here.
YOU'RE LOOKING AT WHAT?
What started out as a fun piece about Japanese animated porn, turned out to be a long, hard look at simulated child pornography and violence in the media, and the rules of the new Film and Publications Act. Do images of child porn serve as tools for paedophiles? Or is the government bordering on censorship with this new act? We find out.
